Host of HGTV's One Garden Two Looks

Whether as a teacher, designer or consultant, Denis Flanagan combines his 30 years of experience and sense of humour, with a unique style that has made him a popular speaker at events across the country. In addition to speaking at Canada Blooms and hosting both Indoor Gardener and One Garden Two Looks on HGTV, Denis often appears as an expert guest on many other gardening shows. When he is not travelling and promoting horticulture Denis works on his much-awaited book, Tales of a Transplant. Speaker Begins at 6:00pm Promptly. Wine and Light Refreshments Will Be Served Starting at 5:30pm

Speakers Series

Included in the price of admission, this very popular program at the Gardening Festival will feature 16 speakers addressing a wide-range of new gardening topics. Of particular interest is our keynote speaker, Denis Flanagan, from HGTV, an acclaimed gardening expert and entertaining presenter. New this year is an interactive audience-panel discussion on the controversial topic of “Pesticides and the Environment”. Plan to make the Speaker Series a part of your Gardening Festival visit.

Student Fine Art Contest

Sponsored by: Kingston Arts Council

The Kingston Arts Council will once again feature the best of young students' garden artwork from various area schools. Winners for each category will be announced at a special presentation on Friday evening during the Family Fun Night activities. As well, gardening-theme paintings of some prominent adult artists will be featured on display alongside the students' works.

Tribute Garden

Celebrate that special someone in your life - alive or deceased - who has been afflicted by lung disease or has inspired your life in a positive way. Located just inside the Sail room entrance, the Tribute Garden features a 'Tribute Tree' where you can hang a personalized message commemorating that special someone. For a small donation to support the community efforts of The Lung Association your message will be displayed prominently on the tree during the Festival and, as well, you will take away packets of flower seeds to enhance your 2007 gardening adventures.

"You Be the Judge"

Celebrity Floral Design Challenge

The Celebrity Floral Design Challenge is back by popular demand. During this contest several local celebrities struggle to create the best floral arrangement after being instructed on the fine art of floral design by a professional florist. Blaney's Flowers has kindly donated all of the live flowers and greenery that will be used in the “masterpieces” and our MC, Mike Bullet, will lead us in a fun-filled, and sometimes crazy, contest. As the title states, YOU will be the judge. Don't miss it!

Family Fun Night

A huge hit the last two years, Family Fun Night is back, bigger and better than ever! The emphasis of the evening is ‘families and kids’. Youngsters will have opportunities to plant, to draw, to construct, and to face paint. As well, Rosie the Clown will dazzle the eye with her ‘ballooning’ abilities while musical entertainers will delight the ears with recognizable kids’ songs. Judging of the finalists in the Student Fine Art Contest will take place along with a special kids’ menu in the Starlight Café. The first 100 women to arrive that night will receive a complementary bouquet of flowers courtesy of In Bloom. An entire family will gain admittance for only $10.00.

RONA Kids' Art & Garden Centre

New this year is an opportunity for the young ones to express their gardening creativity through art, planting or garden woodworking. For a $2.00 donation to The Lung Association, parents may leave their children (ages 5 - 9) in the safe keeping of professionals for 30 minutes at a time while they enjoy the many attractions of the Gardening Festival.
