Majesty: Canada at 150 Concert - Nov 12, 2017 - Nov 12, 2017

Description: This Kingston Chamber Choir concert will be a tribute to our magnificent country, which this year has been celebrating 150 years. Included in the concert are choral works composed by Canadians, diverse and vigorous as the country itself, accompanied by images from the SESQUI 2017 immersive 360° cinematic dome tour. Joining us will be the Queens University all-female student a cappella group, The Caledonias. It will be the premiere of a Canadian piece composed by a KCC summer student, a project funded by a Canada Summer Jobs grant. Also featured will be Canadian works commissioned by KCC  Bawajigaywin by aboriginal composer Andrew Balfour and A Winter Day by Gananoque composer Sarah Quartel, who is published with Oxford University Press. In 1998, artist Katherine Porter established a group that would grow into Kingstons Hart Centre, an arts hub where people with disabilities create, study, and produce works in the arts. On the eve of its 20th anniversary, Porter and the Hart artists will reflect on what this place and journey has meant through this joyful, side-by-side exhibit featuring new acrylic works. Description: An Advent Candlelight Procession with Carols will take place at St. George's Cathedral on Sunday November 26 at 5pm. As well as leading the congregational singing, the Cathedral Adult, Youth, and Children's Choirs will sing a selection of Advent anthems by Mark Sirett, G.F. Handel, Craig Courtney, G.P.
