Book Collection is now CLOSED. Thank you to all who donated such wonderful books, sheet music, books on CD, etc. Your generosity has been boundless! If you missed them, they hope you are able to hold your books until next spring, when they'll start again in May 2011.

STAND UP TO DIABETES COMMUNITY TOUR COMES TO FRONTENAC MALL
To connect Ontarians with the valuable diabetes supports and resources in their communities, the Ontario government is conducting a Stand up to Diabetes community tour throughout Ontario. In partnership with local Diabetes Education programs, the Stand up to Diabetes community tour will at Frontenac Mall on Friday, August 27th. The tour will feature local experts who will showcase resources, services and tools available to Kingston residents with or at risk of developing diabetes. Each community visit will feature: A diabetes nurse educator, who will discuss valuable resources and the three key tests that are an important part of managing diabetes; blood sugar (HbA1C), cholesterol and retinal eye exam; A local chef who will provide healthy recipes, cooking demonstrations and insights on meal planning; An EatRight Ontario Registered Dietitian to advise on the importance of healthy eating and nutrition information on how to prevent and manage diabetes; The Canadian Diabetes Association with information on diabetes and how to live well while managing the disease; and, A local fitness expert, who will share fitness tips and explain why physical exercise is key to preventing and managing diabetes. Schedule of events: 10:30am - 11:00am Media event begins with spokespeople; 11:00am - 11:30am Chef demonstration; 11:30am - 12:00pm Fitness demonstration; 1:00am - 1:30pm Chef demonstration; 1:30pm - 2:00pm Fitness demonstation; 4:00pm Event ends.

Donations for the Vinyl Records Sale will be received at the Frontenac Mall on the following dates: Wed., Sept. 1 from 10am to 2pm; Wed., Sept. 8 from 10am to 2pm; Thurs., Sept. 8 from 10am to 2pm; and Mon., Sept., 20 from 10am to 2pm. Enter via northeast doors or mall doors next to the grocery store. The Kingston Symphony Association will be accepting donations in a new location, the unit between Dollarama & Cdn. Hearing Society. Please ensure they receive your donation. Do NOT abandon items anywhere on mall property outside the times above. Kingston Symphony Association's Annual "BOOK FAIR"
The 51st Annual Kingston Symphony Book Fair is one of the top 5 used book sales in Canada - it is a fundraising event of the Kingston Symphony Association Volunteer Committee. SALE DATES: Tues., Sept. 28 from 5:30pm to 9:00pm - General Admission is $5 (admission charge on opening night only, tickets can be purchased in person after 3pm on the 28th)- Preferred Entry at 5:00pm is $20 (only 50 tickets available, please check the Symphony's website for more details on 'preferred entry tickets'); Wed., Sept. 29 to Fri., Oct. 1st from 10:00am to 9:00pm - Free Admission; Sat., Oct. 2 from 10:00am to 5:00pm - Free Admission. All books are half price on Saturday. Sorry! They cannot process debit or credit cards. There is an ATM in the mall.

Thanksgiving Holiday - MALL CLOSED
Thanksgiving in Canada had been celebrated at various times of the year since 1872 but finally on January 31, 1957, Parliament announced the second Monday in the month of October as the official 'Thanksgiving Day'.
